TORONTO – The Province of Ontario is investing $20,739,331 in municipalities across Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound to fund critical infrastructure and municipal operations, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers announced. The funding comes through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF).

“As a former municipal councillor myself, I know just how important the OMPF is for our local councils,” said Vickers, the first-term Member of Provincial Parliament for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. “Municipalities across Ontario depend on the OMPF to help fund our roads and bridges, emergency services, and much more. I know this funding will be put to great use by local municipal leaders.”

This year, a record $600-million will be invested in the OMPF, a $50-million increase over the previous year. The OMPF is an annual program that supports municipalities across the province with small, northern and rural geographies, as well as those with a limited property tax base.

“This announcement shows our government’s continued commitment to protecting and supporting rural and northern municipalities in Ontario. The Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund plays an essential role in creating safe and strong rural communities across the province,” said Lisa Thompson, Ontario’s Minister of Rural Affairs. “Through the OMPF, our government is helping to ensure that rural and remote northern communities will receive the funds necessary to address local priorities that will allow them to thrive and grow.”
