$34,000 OTF Grant from the Ontario Government Brings Comfort to the Community
December 8, 2025
Town of South Bruce Peninsula, ON – On Friday morning, December 5, MPP Paul Vickers met with the members of the Colpoy’s Bay Women’s Institute (CBWI) to hear more about the $34,000 Capital grant that it received this summer from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Funds from the six-month long grant have been used to fund a new Heating and Cooling (HVAC) system and have been pivotal in helping with the required electrical upgrades needed for the near century old Colpoy’s Bay Women’s Institute Community Hall.

“Community facilities like the Colpoy’s Bay Women’s Institute Hall are not just places to get together – they are places for community to form,” said Vickers. “The small-but-mighty team at the Colpoy’s Bay Women’s Institute provides many recreational opportunities for nearby residents, and I look forward to seeing the year-round programming this investment will help enable.”
The previous heating system had reached the end of its lifespan, making a new system essential. This upgrade extends the hall’s usability into the colder months, where heating costs once made it prohibitive to stay open. The addition of air conditioning brings welcome relief—ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone attending summer gatherings.
“The impact of this Ontario government grant is substantial,” said Sharon Person, Treasurer of the CBWI. “Since 1927, the CBWI – together with dedicated community members have proudly maintained the Colpoy’s Bay WI Community Hall as a vibrant gathering place that fosters education, wellness, inclusion, and celebration. Thanks to this grant, we can continue this legacy year-round and ensure the accessible and climate-controlled hall remains a welcoming space.”
Fully accessible and newly climate-controlled, the hall is now a versatile venue for all seasons—ready to host community events, celebrations, and performances with comfort and ease.
