$28,000 OTF Grant from the Ontario Government Gives Community a Lift

Hanover – On Tuesday June 17, MPP Paul Vickers met with the team at Hanover Community Players (HCP) at the local Volunteer Fair to formally congratulate the group on what it’s done since receiving a $28,000 Capital grant last year from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant has been used to make improvements to the local Civic Theatre. The project will help make the space more accessible, safe, and enhanced.
“Local theatre enriches our communities,” said Paul Vickers, Member of Provincial Parliament for Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound. “The cost to put on local theatre productions is only going up, so I am grateful to the Ontario Trillium Fund for seeing the opportunity to help keep local theatre viable in Hanover by investing in this organization.”
The grant has been used over 12 months to improve the theatre lighting on stage, install a wireless communication system for the backstage volunteers, and add child booster seats for younger patrons.
“HCP is very important to our culture here in Hanover,” said Colby Klages, youth representative on the board of the Hanover Community Players. “With these new lights, booster seats, and backstage headset system, the whole production has been smoother and helped the shows feel bright and full of life.”
Hanover Community Players is a not for profit with the purpose of educating and increasing the public’s understanding and appreciation for the arts by providing performances of an artistic nature to the community of Hanover and surrounding areas. Currently they are preparing for their fall production of School of Rock which will be November 28th to December 7th, 2025.
