ALLENFORD – On Thursday September 25, 2025, MPP Paul Vickers was at the Allenford Curling Club’s AGM to recognize the work that’s been done since receiving a $24,900 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the provincial government. The grant that was awarded in 2024 was used to enhance the curling experience at the 115-year- old club, making it a place where residents of the village and surrounding area want to come and curl.
“The Allenford Curling Club is an established and valued community organization. I am glad to see the OTF recognize the benefit this organization has to the Allenford community and provide critical funding to keep this 115-year organization in a good place for years to come,” said Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers.
Funds were used to refurbish the curling stones, as well as to provide training for four Ice Technicians and four Club Coaches, and it’s also helped the Club to have membership with Curling Ontario for two years. This project will ensure good ice, good rocks and good training for both juniors and regular curlers. Thanks to the grant, Allenford Curling Club will be able to reap the benefits of joining the provincial organization of Curling Ontario.
“The impact of this Ontario government grant cannot be overstated,” said Richard Graham, Chair of the Board, Allenford Curling Club. “This initiative has helped to prepare our club for continued success and be the local hub for our community.”
The Allenford Curling Club, while a non-profit organization, has also branded itself as the Community Centre for Allenford and surrounding area. The Allenford Curling Club will provide a Community Centre for the people of the Village of Allenford and surrounding Rural Community. This Community Centre will provide and be available year-round for sports, recreational and social activities and will be the Municipal Evacuation Centre. The work of the club’s members allows it to be this presence in the Community. If interested in joining the Club or renting the facility, please visit: allenfordcurlingclub.ca.
